The movie is directed and written by M.Night Shyamalan. The movie is an adaptation of a popular nickelodean cartoon The Avatar: The Last Air Bender. as you can see our director has even got the names the other way around, which already gives us a feeling about how the movie is going to be like when you watch it. Anyway, the plot is simple.
-Plot
The story follows the adventures of Aang, a young successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations. In this case book one.
-Review
The movie started quite slowly and boring but then you had that glimmer of hope that probably that mood will change as the movie goes on like any other normal movie. The movie is partly narrated by Katara's voice one of the main characters in the movie. Other than that, the script of the movie is way too childish. Come on! We know the movie was an adaptation from the cartoon but even the cartoon's script were far more (for the fact way more better) than the movie itself. Our story writer aka the director got too emotional to be a kid when he wrote a story about a kid saving and changing the world and thus you end up with boring movie lines where they talk, talk and talk. For GOD sake its a movie not some literature show! Yes the script of a movie is the core cos that script decides whether the audience laugh at it and say "Hey now thats a good line" but instead the lines in this movie would make you say "What in the world are they trying to tell us". As the movie goes on you will be starting to feel boring and the dialogues are going to get from bad to worse! Moreover, the bending techniques of the water, air, earth and fire itself are very pathetic. Well except for the last part when the war takes place. In the cartoon the bending techniques and the movement of the element in control would blow you away and make you say wow! but in this movie, even with the current technologies of creating greater Visual effects the whole movie crew has failed to deliver the same effect the cartoons did. For a matter of fact they are not even close to achieving it. Although they manage a bit near the end parts of the movie, with every great moments the director gives you a smell of shit. The actors in the movie are puppets not actors cos when they act you shouldnt feel that its a puppet show but instead you should feel the emotions portrayed by the characters themselves but in this movie most of the characters fail to deliver them. Even in the cartoon the villain aka Commander and Admiral Zhao had those characteristics that would leave an impact on you telling that "hey this character is evil, mean, cruel and tough and how is the avatar going to beat him?" but hey that same character in this movie ends up looking like barbie doll given the role to become a villain!!(for the fact even in those barbie doll movies the villians in those movie deliver greater darkness than this one). The only enjoyable character in this whole movie is probably General Iroh aka Prince Zuko's uncle. But too bad cos he only has a few scenes in the movie, which was very disappointing cos even in the cartoon general Iroh had more scenes. Well, i got to admit the movie got a whole lot better at the war. At least near the end bit of the war. However, the movie's soundtrack is something that i would cheer cos the background music played suited the scenes very well and actually could have made the movie a hit only if the lines and the bending and movement of element techniques were better. The last soundtrack for the movie which played in the back ground of the war actually created quite a feeling. Finally, to those guyz that watched in the cinema i feel pity cos this movie aint that worth it. And, if you are a die hard fan of the avatar i recommend you not to watch cos you will be pissed.(PS:just like me). Other than that if you are looking to watch the movie which your child might laugh at and you laughing at the LAME scenes and lines of the movie then go ahead.....
